hand-carved and printed using the traditional Japanese woodblock method, known as Mokuhanga. This centuries-old technique involves carving an image into wood, inking the surface, and pressing it onto paper to make a print.
I’ve loved Japanese woodblock prints since high school, and over the past year I’ve been slowly teaching myself the process. This is my very first finished print. The design was inspired by At the Hot Spring, designed by Ichijô Narumi and printed in 1906.
